Recently visited family in Boone. Heard this place reopened and fortunately was within walking distance. The place was packed and the food was amazing. Went twice during our visit it was do good. My favorite is the breakfast sandwich with the fresh French bread. Their take on the chicken and waffles is also delicious with the hot honey, I just prefer sandwiches. The bread is fresh from the local bakery! We visited over 2 weeks ago and I recently had a dream about eating the breakfast sandwich so I had to write a review. You may have to wait for a seat but the food is worth it and the staff is very attentive and friendly.

The new hot beef sandwich is absolutely amazing and even better than the old one! You can tell a lot of care went into improving the recipe, and it totally paid off. The new menu items are just as impressive, offering something different for everyone without losing that classic comfort food vibe. As always, the staff is awesome, friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to see you. Love seeing this place continue to get even better!

Food was tasty but small, reflected by reasonable prices. Some new staff? A bit slow to get going. Cool small diner, can visit with all at the counter. Foot test a bit high or stools low?

Cute quaint little spot, the best sweet potato fies I've ever had, half brisket have short rib burger was so good. Iced tea was freshly brewed. Would have stay for french silk pie but had a train to catch. Great service. Thank you!

Loved the small town cafe feel. Menu had many options to choose from and food was good. Our waitress, Sherri, was very friendly, stopped to check on us many times and really got to know us.

Perfect. Arrived at 10:30 on a Saturdays morning. Wonderful throw back diner. I was smiling the second I walked through the door. Big wrap around bar seating and a few booths. Pastry display in the middle. Mismatched funny coffee mugs. Open sight line to the kitchen. Menu boards and specials located on the walls throughout. Glass Heinz ketchup bottles! When is the last time you enjoyed that? I had a #4 which was eggs, hashbrowns, toast, and choice of meat. Also ordered a Coke. The food was PERFECT for me. Exactly how I ordered it. All the servers friendly and efficient. It was packed when I arrived and I didn't see anyone miss a beat. Coffee being refilled, tables turned quickly, pleasant banter, everyone working together like clock work. Beautiful. This place is a GEM! Locally owned by the same owner since 1998. A quick shot north of Des Moines, just a few miles from Ames. Oh yeah- my bill was under $13. No typo! Under $13!!!! I gave the gal $20 and left happy as can be. Every dish I saw leaving the kitchen looked delicious. Can't wait to share this place with family and friends.
